Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction #
What is Evalize? #
Evalize is an online technical skill assessment platform designed to help HR teams, engineering leads, and headhunters verify whether candidates meet essential technical requirements before or during the early stages of interviews. We provide professionally designed question banks, automatic grading, and structured assessment reports to help teams establish a clear capability baseline before investing further interview time.
Does Evalize replace technical interviews? #
No. Evalize is designed to support early verification of foundational skills so that interviews can be more focused and meaningful. Assessment results should be considered alongside interviews and other evaluation methods, not as a standalone final decision.
Who uses this platform? #
Evalize is designed for HR teams, hiring managers, and talent acquisition consultants. They can use the platform to assign assessments and share the test link with candidates through any preferred channel. Candidates can then complete the test online using the provided link.
Is Evalize only suitable for hiring workflows? #
Evalize is not limited to technical hiring. It can be used in various scenarios where foundational technical skills need to be verified.
In hiring workflows, it helps teams confirm whether candidates meet baseline requirements before interviews. Headhunters can use assessment results to strengthen their recommendations. It can also be applied before cross-team collaboration or technical partnerships to better understand baseline capabilities.
Do I need to install any software? #
No installation is required. All assessments can be completed directly through major desktop or mobile browsers. We recommend using the latest version of a desktop browser for the best compatibility and user experience.
Assessment Content & Question Types #
Can I customize assessments? #
Yes. You can use built-in test templates or create your own customized templates by combining skill modules to match specific roles or evaluation scenarios.
What types of questions does Evalize provide? #
Evalize currently provides two primary question types:
- Multiple-choice questions (single and multiple selection)
- Coding challenges
Multiple-choice questions assess conceptual understanding, while coding challenges require candidates to write code to demonstrate logical thinking and foundational implementation skills.
Which programming languages are supported? #
Currently supported languages include C, C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Go, Rust, PHP, and Swift. Additional languages may be added over time.
Does Evalize support SQL assessments? #
Yes. Evalize provides SQL assessment environments supporting MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, and Oracle, allowing teams to verify foundational database querying and data manipulation skills.
Test Delivery and Assessment Flow #
How do I create an assessment? #
Evalize offers flexible workflows to help HR and managers assign assessments based on their needs:
-
Create from a job position
Start by creating a job through the “Job Management” feature, filling in the relevant role details, and optionally linking test templates. Next, add or assign candidates to the job, then use the candidate list to click “Assign Test” and select the appropriate test template. This method maintains the association between job and candidate for easier tracking and management.
-
Assign from the candidate list
You can add a candidate via the “Candidate Management” feature, then click “Assign Test” next to their name. Choose a suitable assessment template in the dialog to complete the assignment and obtain the test link.
-
Assign from a test template
Select a test template from the “Assessment Library,” click “Assign Test,” and choose multiple candidates at once. This is ideal for bulk assignments.
Note: The platform does not automatically send test links. You need to manually share the generated link with candidates via email, chat apps, or other methods.
Do test links expire? #
Test links do not expire by default, but you can set a valid time window. During test assignment, you may specify the “Earliest Start Time” and “Latest Start Time.” Candidates can only begin the test within this time frame.
Do candidates need to register to take the test? #
No registration is required. Invited candidates can access the test directly by clicking the link (no sign-up or login needed).
Can a test be paused? #
Currently, tests must be completed in a single session. Pausing or resuming later is not supported. Candidates are advised to ensure a stable internet connection and a suitable environment before starting the test.
Are test questions available in Traditional Chinese? #
Yes. Evalize’s question bank natively supports both Traditional Chinese and English. Each question allows language switching during the test, enabling candidates to choose their preferred language for clear understanding and a smooth experience.
Scoring & Reports #
How are assessments scored? #
The system automatically grades candidate submissions. Multiple-choice questions include both single-answer and multi-answer types. Multi-answer questions apply a penalty for incorrect selections, with a minimum score of 0. For coding questions, the submitted code is executed in a secure sandbox environment and automatically graded based on predefined test cases. A detailed score report and evaluation summary are then generated, with a recommendation on whether the candidate has passed.
You can view each candidate’s test status, scores, and report via the “Candidate Management” section. For completed tests, you may also manually mark candidates as “Passed” or “Failed” and assign an overall evaluation score for future reference.
Can I download the assessment report? #
Yes. You can download the assessment report as a PDF, or view the complete responses, detailed scores, and evaluation feedback directly in the dashboard.
Fairness and Data Protection #
How does Evalize prevent cheating and ensure fairness? #
We understand how critical fairness is in technical assessments. That’s why Evalize is built with multiple layers of anti-cheating mechanisms to ensure every test result reflects true ability:
- Randomized question sets and option orders to reduce copying
- Time limits and controlled test window settings
- Browser activity tracking to monitor test-taking behavior
- AI-powered anomaly detection to flag suspicious patterns
- Ongoing improvements to strengthen test integrity
These mechanisms help reduce the risk of improper behavior. Assessment results are recommended to be reviewed alongside interviews and other evaluation methods for a comprehensive decision.
Is my data secure? #
We take data privacy very seriously. All data transmissions are encrypted with HTTPS, and we handle candidate information in accordance with Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act.
Credits & Plans #
How is pricing structured? #
The platform uses a flexible credit-based pricing model, allowing you to pay according to your actual assessment needs. Each test assignment deducts a fixed number of credits. You can purchase plans based on your needs.
For details, please see our Pricing.
Do credits expire? #
Purchased credits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Any changes to this policy will be announced in advance.
What actions consume credits? #
Credits are deducted once a test is assigned, regardless of whether the candidate completes it. If the candidate hasn’t started the test, you may cancel the assignment at any time and the credits will be refunded automatically.
How many free credits will I receive after signing up? #
To help new users get started with Evalize, we offer free trial credits. After registration and email verification, the system automatically grants free credits based on your email type:
- Company or non-free email: 5 credits
- Free email (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook): 3 credits
We recommend using a company email to unlock the full trial quota and enjoy a smoother onboarding experience.
⚠️ For security and fair resource usage, disposable email addresses are not allowed. The system will automatically detect and reject them during registration.
